Respite Care

Acacia Hospice – Respite Care Services NJ

What is Respite Care?
In order to support you as you care for your loved one, it is important to ensure that your health and well-being are maintained by obtaining adequate assistance and rest.  Caregiver stress may interfere with the care of your loved one due to the emotional and physical toll that providing that care may take.

Respite is designed to provide a brief period of rest and recovery for you while your loved one receives care. It is available to you for free under the Medicare and Medicaid Hospice benefit in addition to other private insurances.

Respite provides around the clock nursing care in a long-term care facility.  Transport costs to and from the facility are covered by the hospice benefit. While under hospice respite care the patient continues to receive visits from the hospice team including Nurses, Licensed Social Workers, Home Health Aides, Volunteers and Chaplain just as you would in your home.

Respite care is available on a planned basis or on an emergency basis and it has been designed for you and for the person you are caring for.

If you are receiving hospice care, please contact and discuss with your hospice team the use of respite care and if it would benefit you and your loved one.
